The Second Chance Fund has been a part of many great success stories over the years. While we would love to feature each and every one, we're happy to say that there are just too many to post! Here are a few stories to help give you an idea of just what The Second Chance Fund is all about.
Milo is a 2 year old Blue Heeler/Australian Shepherd cross who was hit by a car causing a fracture of one side of his pelvis. He loves the attention of his people and has a hard time controlling his “licker.” While he sustained significant injuries, Milo recovered and integrated well with his foster family’s other dog. So well that his foster mom made Milo a permanent member of their family!
Peg Leg Pete is a sweet 5 month old neutered male kitten who was surrendered to Second Chance Fund for a severe fracture of his femur. The prognosis for successful repair was not good so it was decided that amputation was the best option to save his life. Pete fully recovered and found a home with his foster family. He is doing well and enjoying life to the fullest on three legs!
Marigold is a 5 month old Golden Retriever puppy that sustained a terrible fracture of her back leg when it was caught in a tie out line. Due to the severity of the injury, amputation was the only option to save her life. Her owners were unable to afford the procedure to repair in her distal hock/tibia/fibula that was not repairable. Marigold had a surgical amputation of her hind limb and was lovingly placed in a foster home for recovery. Marigold's foster family fell in love with her and decided to make her a member of their family forever!
